【摘要】:Thispracticeisaguidelineforpropermaterialsandprocessselectionandapplication.Thespecificapplicationoftheseguidelinesmusttakeintoaccountcontractualagreements,functionalperformancerequirementsforparticularprogramsandmissions,andtheactualenvironmentsandexposuresanticipatedforeachmaterialandtheequipmentinwhichthematerialsareused.Guidelinesarenotreplacementsforcarefulandinformedengineeringjudgmentandevaluationsandallpossibleperformanceanddesignconstraintsandrequirementscannotbeforeseen.Thispracticeislimitedtounmannedsystemsandunmannedorexternalportionsofmannedsystems,suchastheSpaceStation.Generally,itisapplicabletosystemsinlowearthorbit,synchronousorbit,andinterplanetarymissions.Althoughmanyofthesuggestionsandcautionsareapplicabletobothunmannedandmannedspacecraft,mannedsystemshaveadditionalconstraintsandrequirementsforcrewsafetywhichmaynotbeaddressedadequatelyinunmanneddesigns.Becauseoftheaddedconstraintsandconcernsforhuman-ratedsystems,thesesystemsarenotaddressedinthispractice.1.1Thepurposeofthispracticeistoaidengineers,designers,qualityandreliabilitycontrolengineers,materialsspecialists,andsystemsdesignersintheselectionandcontrolofmaterialsandprocessesforspacecraft,externalportionofmannedsystems,orman-tendedsystems.Spacecraftsystemsareverydifferentfrommostotherapplications.Spaceenvironmentsareverydifferentfromterrestrialenvironmentsandcandramaticallyaltertheperformanceandsurvivabilityofmanymaterials.Reliability,longlife,andinabilitytorepairdefectivesystems(orhighcostanddifficultlyofrepairsformannedapplications)arecharacteristicofspaceapplications.Thispracticealsoisintendedtoidentifymaterialsprocessesorapplicationsthatmayresultindegradedorunsatisfactoryperformanceofsystems,subsystems,orcomponents.Examplesofsuccessfulandunsuccessfulmaterialsselectionsandusesaregivenintheappendices.
