【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesforthemeasuringoftheminimumconcentrationofoxygeninaflowingmixtureofoxygenandnitrogenthatwilljustsupportflamingcombustionofplastics.Correlationwithburningcharacteristicsunderactualuseconditionsisnotimplied.Inthistestmethod,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratorytestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itisnotalwayspossiblebyorfromthistesttopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefire-test-exposureconditionsdescribedinthistestmethod.1.1Thisfire-test-responsestandarddescribesaprocedureformeasuringtheminimumconcentrationofoxygen,expressedaspercentvolume,thatwilljustsupportflamingcombustioninaflowingmixtureofoxygenandnitrogen.1.2Thistestmethodprovidesthreetestingprocedures.ProcedureAinvolvestopsurfaceignition,ProcedureBinvolvespropagatingignition,andProcedureCisashortprocedureinvolvingthecomparisonwithaspecifiedminimumvalueoftheoxygenindex.1.3Testspecimensusedforthistestmethodarepreparedintooneofsixtypesofspecimens(see).1.4Thistestmethodprovidesfortestingmaterialsthatarestructurallyself-supportingintheformofverticalbarsorsheetupto10.5-mmthick.Suchmaterialsaresolid,laminatedorcellularmaterialscharacterizedbyanapparentdensitygreaterthan15kg/m3.1.5Thistestmethodalsoprovidesfortestingflexiblesheetorfilmmaterials,whilesupportedvertically.1.6Thistestmethodisalsosuitable,insomecases,forcellularmaterialshavinganapparentdensityoflessthan15kg/m3.Note1Althoughthistestmethodhasbeenfoundapplicablefortestingsomeothermaterials,theprecisionofthetestmethodhasnotbeendeterminedforthesematerials,orforspecimengeometriesandtestconditionsoutsidethoserecommendedherein.1.7Thistestmethodmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsstatementaregiveninSection.Note2ThistestmethodandISO4589-2aretechnicallyequivalentwhenusingthegasmeasurementandcontroldevicedescribedin,withdirectoxygenconcentrationmeasurement.
